Greasy Palms

Got back from Vegas this past Sunday night. That city is a world of it's own. Everyone there runs on the philosophy: you rub my back and I'll rub yours. They are very friendly about it though.
We were standing on line at the Bellagio buffet dinner. The wait: 1 1/2 hours! We left the line to see if we could find some nice restaurants. I went to the bar that was on the casino floor and asked the bartender what restaurants he recommended as we didn't want to wait on line at the buffet for 1 1/2 hours. Immediately he asks if we mind eating at the buffet's bar and picks up the phone to call his buddy who works there. He tells him there are a couple of big spenders and they wanted 3 seats at the bar. He tells us to walk right in through the exit and go right up to the bar where the plates and silverware are already waiting for us! We slip him a couple of bucks and walk past the long line of people waiting diligently on line and walk right up to the bar! No waiting! That was a classic Vegas moment. That's how the whole city works. Very cool.
Also, the women in Vegas are gorgeous. Not just those that work there either. The women who are visiting are drop dead gorgeous too. Everyone and their mothers!
I have to go back next summer!

Vegas comin' up

Leavin' for Vegas tomorrow evening. Can't wait. I have to make it through today and tomorrow while being productive. Writing in this blog first thing in the morning does not help the cause howevever.

Nice Ride

I took the new bike out for a ride yesterday along the north shore. I went up to Cold Spring Harbor and watched the sunset.
The bike is a monster. The bike just launches and I haven't even pushed the throttle past a quarter of the way. So badass.

Tired, oh so tired...

I am so tired. I don't feel like doing anything. I hate when I get like this. It all stems from the lack of good quality sleep during the night. I have sleep apnea and it is starting to get the better of me. My brain feels tired and used and I can't think for shit. So hard to concentrate on anything.
I can't have fun when I wanna have fun becuase I don't have the energy and I can't work when I want to work.
I've got to get it together and start doing something that will cure the apnea. I don't want to live like this anymore. Just drifting around aimlessly without a purpose and a direction in life. I need to take a hold of things and carve my own path. Now I need to figure out how to do this...

Motorcycle Negotiations

I'm currently in negotiations to buy a Sports Bike. Hope things work out as this is a really good deal for a monster of a bike; Honda CBR929RR. This bike is 900cc and has about 150hp. My civic is only 127hp. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have 150hp on a bike. I'll be flying. The body is red with red powder coated rims.

Cutting Carbs

Our good nation has gone crazy with the notion that they can not eat carbohydrates. Every company has now changed their product lines to accommodate Atkins dieters and other low carb dieters. They have made carbs out to be evil.
Coke has come out with the 1/2 carbs cola. Subway has their Atkins friendly wraps. Krispy Kreme saw a sharp decline in profits the past few quarters and so they are coming out with a low carb doughnut.
I for one like carbs. Breads, pastas, etc. They give me energy and eaten in moderation and at the right time, they are just fine.
I think people are so easily swayed by fad diets. On the one hand I can sort of understand why. Eating a healthy and balanced diet suited for your lifestyle is not always that easy. What is even harder for me than working out is figuring out the right foods to eat to give my body the nourishment it needs. Jay Cutler, professional bodybuilder, claims that the hardest thing he has to deal with is his diet and not the exercise regimen itself.
On the other hand though people take things to the extreme and the low carb diet is a good example of this.

Blog Friend

I had posted a couple of comments on Crayon's blog yesterday. It's so cool to get a response from someone on the other side of the world. I love that whole concept. Also, what's so great about the whole blog experience is that it's interactive. You can read what other people have wrote and actually express your opinions and more often than not, get responses back on your thoughts. Very cool...

Cell Phone Holdsters

What is with people who wear cell phone holdsters? It is like cell phones are to the 21st century what six shooters were to the 19th century. Guys walk around the office with them attached to their hips. If you are under 30 years of age you should not be allowed to attach a cell phone holdster to the side of your pants. Keep it away and in your pockets. Do you ever see women with cell phone holdsters on their pants? No, and that's because they know better. We should take a clue from them on this one.

350z

The Nissan 350z has really been catching my interest lately. That is one hot car. It is a driver's car and quite affordable for the amount of power you are getting.

Vegas Baby, Vegas!

Well, I'm goin' to Vegas in 3 weeks with my friends. There are 9 of us total and we've booked a suite at Ballys. We are goin' for four days and four nights of debauchery. I can't wait.
My friends have been arguing recently over what size suite to get. Originally we booked a 6 person suite and then more people were added to the group. We figured we'd make due and some people would sleep on the couches. A couple of the guys went and upgraded the suite to a 9 person suite. They told us 2 weeks later about the change in plans and that the price difference is not going to be that much more. The point is though that they didn't ask everybody if it was OK to change the booking. Some of my friends are just finishing up with school and haven't started working yet so money is a bit of an issue for them. Anyway, I think the 9 person suite is a better idea if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg more.

Well, the following is a response from one of my friends who was offended that plans were changed without him being notified. It's a classic line.

"Honestly I didn't wanna spend more on the hotel, theres a bunch of
stuff to do in vegas and i feel like my money would be better spent on gambling, strippers, and drinking/clubbing."

In any other situation other than discussing Vegas you would balk at that statement. hehe.

Reprimanded

I got reprimanded by my boss today. I got the speech on how I am the junior-most mananger in the company and how I have to work up to my potential. Who wants to do that? The issue of me being habitually late was also brought to my attention. I also got reprimanded for not staying late everyday. It's not like I have anything better to do. I just go to the gym after work and then go home but after 5pm rolls around I just want to get the hell out of the office. The feeling actually sinks in at around 3pm.
I have actually fallen asleep during some of our management meetings. It is usually myself and our 68 year old accountant, who end up falling asleep. The problem is that he is old and has an excuse. I on the other hand am only 22. I don't like drinking coffee but for the past couple of meetings I have been bringing some coffee into the meetings just in case I feel sleepy. I haven't reached for it yet.

Missed Opportunity #2

I must add to the missed opportunity tally. It is now at 2. Saturday night I was in the city at a bar with a friend of mine. There was a bartender there that had the most beautiful smile She was Filipino and looked like the sweetest thing. My friend tried to talk to her and might have gotten somewhere but flubbed it up. I didn't even make an attempt, thus missed opportunity #2.

Memorial Day Weekend

Had a nice weekend. Nothing special. Actually, OK, it wasn't that great. I spent my Monday off doing nothing. I didn't do anything. Just sat around and watched bad TV. I didn't even go to the video store to pick up some good movies to watch. I just sat there and watched the bland shows and rerun movies.
I actually ended up going to the office for a couple of hours. Do you believe that? We have a great long weekend and I somehow have to go to the office.
Well, it is Tuesday morning and I don't want to really do anything here at work. I would just like to leave and take a trip down to somewhere warm and not come back. I can't even enjoy the beautiful weather we are having. I am stuck in an office where the temperature is freezing. They keep us in a constant state of uncomfortableness. In the winter it is too warm and in the summer it is too cold. Actually it is the A/C system that we can't figure out. OK, there is no "they". "They" are actually just as miserable as the rest of us. That is of some consolation...
